Even if your car is baking in the hot summer sun, you can imagine it staying cool under one of these solar carports recently built all across the country. Technologies include prefabricated framing, double cantilever canopies, and water management systems.

South Carolina: A Quest Renewables crew constructs one of ten QuadPod™ double cantilever canopies for a 907 kW carport system next to an AVX Corporation factory in Fountain Inn, South Carolina.

Ohio: RBI Solar constructed this 2.4 MW carport at Owens Corning’s headquarters in Toledo, Ohio.  A water management system, with underdecking, gutters and downspouts, protects pedestrians and vehicles.  Raised concrete piers protect the columns from potential vehicle impact.  The project was developed by Conti Solar.

Texas: Baja Carports provided pre-fabricated framing, and teamed up with solar integrator Renewvia Energy to design a 797 kW solar carport project that protects new cars from hail and sun at a Texas auto dealership.  An 8-person crew constructed the system.

Arizona: Park ’n Shade built this 2.6MW solar carport at a new office building in Tucson, Arizona, to provide shaded parking from the first day the building opens.

I was in Salida, CO (pop: ~6,000) this weekend for a rafting trip and noticed their high school has solar canopies over the parking area (300 panels) along with 1400 panels on the roof top. This is the way schools and parking lots should be built! Found an article that said the district expects to save nearly $900,000 over the next 20 years (so, avg of $45,000/year) which is pretty nice for a small school district.

It was a pleasure for Quest Renewables to work with the team at AVX. They did an incredible job, by taking advantage of our on-the-ground construction, they were able to install the entire system in a little less than half the man-hours required to install a typical solar carport. See what we can do for you.

How much for a 2 car carport for me?

Both the Texas and Arizona projects utilized Powers Solar Frames Solar Carport systems.
