March 7 (Renewables Now) - France’s first tender for commercial and industrial (C&I) rooftop solar systems under the country’s PPE2 multi-year energy procurement programme has resulted in 52 winning projects.

The weighted average price of the winning proposals amounts to EUR 83.12 (USD 90.38) per MWh, the French Ministry for the Ecological Transition said on Thursday.

The procurement round was open to projects involving the installation of photovoltaic (PV) arrays of over 500 kWp. Among the selected developers are Technique Solaire Invest and Photosol, while the largest project in terms of capacity is for 12.8 MW of panels in Hauts-de-France.

Through the PPE2 programme, France is seeking to award 28.9 GW of renewable power generation capacity through 2026, of which 5.1 GW from rooftop solar plants, greenhouses and solar carports. The target for ground-mounted solar PV installations is 9.95 GW.

Before the launch of the PPE2 scheme, C&I solar projects competed in national tender programme for PV installations on roofs, parking lots and agricultural facilities. Its latest round concluded in December 2021 with 820 winning proposals in two capacity categories.
